Arbitrary code execution via image out-of-bounds read

An out-of-bounds read in Apple operating systems before fixed releases allows attackers to execute arbitrary code by processing a maliciously crafted image. ImageIO reads beyond the supplied image buffer because input validation is insufficient, allowing crafted image data to reach memory-unsafe processing. Exploitation requires a victim application or system component to process the image; successful processing can execute code in that component's security context.
