CVE-2020-3843Public exploit

Kernel code execution via unchecked AWDL TLV length

Published Feb 27, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Memory corruption in Apple iOS before 12.4.7 and watchOS before 5.3.7 allows remote attackers to corrupt kernel memory via AWDL frames. IO80211AWDLPeer::parseAwdlSyncTreeTLV passes an unchecked attacker-controlled TLV length to memmove, overflowing a kernel heap buffer. Wi-Fi radio proximity and no user interaction are required; exploitation can reboot a device or obtain native code execution and kernel memory read/write.
