Credential disclosure via captive-portal AutoFill confusion
Published Feb 27, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Credential disclosure in iOS before 13.3.1 and Safari before 13.0.5 allows local users to expose saved passwords via a captive portal. Safari Login AutoFill confuses captive.apple.com with iCloud credential scope and offers saved iCloud credentials inside an automatically opened HTTP captive-login frame. A user must join an attacker-controlled Wi-Fi network and select the offered credentials; the phishing page then submits them before login confirmation.
