Unauthenticated administrator access via POST-body marker

Published Jun 20, 2026 · Updated Jun 20, 2026

Authentication bypass in Revmakx WP Time Capsule before 1.21.16 allows remote attackers to obtain an administrator session via a crafted POST body. The decode_server_request_wptc() function in wptc-cron-functions.php checks only whether raw POST data contains IWP_JSON_PREFIX, then calls wptc_login_as_admin() without authentication or privilege checks. Any unauthenticated network client that can reach the WordPress site can receive cookies for the first administrator account and enter the dashboard with that account's authority.
