Administrator-context JavaScript via unescaped stored settings
Published May 13, 2026 · Updated May 13, 2026
Stored XSS in Powie's WHOIS Domain Check 0.9.31 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in an administrator's browser. The pwhois_settings.php page echoes saved display strings into textarea content and input value attributes without context-appropriate escaping. A user able to update the plugin settings can store markup that runs when an administrator revisits the page, enabling actions with that administrator's WordPress privileges.
