Application crash via oversized registration name
Published Feb 11, 2026 · Updated Feb 11, 2026
Classic buffer overflow in Nsasoft RemShutdown 2.9.0.0 allows local users to crash the application through its registration dialog. Registration processing copies a 1,000-character value from the Name field without enforcing the destination buffer's size, corrupting memory and terminating the process. Exploitation requires interactive access to paste the payload into the Windows application's Name field; the documented consequence is a process crash only.
