Application crash via oversized registration key
Published Feb 11, 2026 · Updated Feb 11, 2026
Stack-based buffer overflow in Nsasoft NetShareWatcher 1.5.8.0 allows local users to crash the application via an oversized registration key. The registration dialog accepts a 1,000-character Key value without enforcing a length bound before writing it to stack storage, corrupting memory when OK is selected. Exploitation requires Windows desktop access and active submission of the crafted key; the demonstrated consequence is an application crash, not code execution.
