Application crash via oversized registration name
Published Feb 11, 2026 · Updated Feb 11, 2026
Buffer overflow in BlueAuditor 1.7.2.0 allows local users to crash the application through an oversized registration name. The registration dialog copies the pasted name into a fixed-size buffer without verifying that the destination can hold the 1,000-character input. Exploitation requires access to the Windows GUI and manual submission of the value; the demonstrated consequence is a process crash, not code execution or system shutdown.
