Local SYSTEM code execution via unquoted service path
Published Feb 1, 2026 · Updated Feb 1, 2026
Unquoted service path handling in Weird Solutions BOOTP Turbo 2.0.1214 allows local users to execute code as LocalSystem on Windows. The BOOTP Turbo service registers C:\Program Files\BOOTP Turbo\bootpt.exe without quotation marks, so Windows can select an attacker-planted executable at an earlier space-delimited path segment. A low-privileged local user needs write access to such a searched location, and code runs when the automatic service starts or restarts.
