Local privilege escalation via unquoted service path
Published Feb 1, 2026 · Updated Feb 1, 2026
Unquoted service path handling in Deep Instinct D-Client for Windows 1.2.29.0 allows local users to execute code as LocalSystem. DeepMgmtService registers C:\Program Files\HP Sure Sense\DeepMgmtService.exe without quotation marks, causing Windows to search ambiguous parent paths at service startup. Exploitation requires local access and permission to place a malicious executable in a searched path; successful code runs when the service starts or the host reboots.
