CVE-2020-37031Public exploit

Local code execution via oversized File input

Published Jan 30, 2026 · Updated Jan 30, 2026

Buffer overflow in Ashkon Software Simple Startup Manager 1.17 allows local users to execute arbitrary code through the File input field. The New startup-item dialog accepts a 268-byte payload in File and writes beyond its destination buffer, letting overwritten control data redirect execution. The published proof of concept requires interactive local access and disables DEP and ASLR, so execution is demonstrated only under those weakened protections.
