Code execution via License Code stack overflow
Published Jan 30, 2026 · Updated Jan 30, 2026
Stack-based buffer overflow in Nidesoft DVD Ripper 5.2.18 allows local users to execute arbitrary code through the License Code field. The registration dialog copies an oversized License Code value into a fixed-size stack buffer; 6,008 bytes of padding overwrite the SEH record and redirect execution through avcodec.dll. Exploitation requires local interaction with the Windows GUI to paste the crafted value and runs shellcode in the application's user context.
