Stack buffer overflow in BearShare Lite 5.1.0 through 5.2.5 allows local users to execute arbitrary code through Advanced Search. The Advanced Search Keywords handler fails to bound alphanumeric input, allowing 524 padding bytes to reach EIP and redirect control through JMP ESP to appended shellcode. Exploitation requires a user to paste the payload into the Keywords field and click Search; code runs in the BearShare process context.
