LocalSystem code execution via unquoted service path
Published Jan 28, 2026 · Updated Jan 28, 2026
Unquoted service path in Input Director 1.4.3 allows local users to execute code with LocalSystem privileges during startup or reboot. The auto-start InputDirector service registers C:\Program Files (x86)\InputDirector\IDWinService.exe without quotation marks, causing Windows to resolve an attacker-placed executable earlier in the parsed path. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access to plant that executable and a service start, yielding LocalSystem code execution.
