CVE-2020-36968Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Password-hash disclosure via unrestricted administrative API

Published Jan 28, 2026 · Updated Jan 28, 2026

Authentication flaw in Tildeslash Ltd. M/Monit 3.7.4 allows remote authenticated users to retrieve all users’ MD5 password hashes. The /api/1/admin/users/list and /api/1/admin/users/get endpoints return password fields because web.xml does not restrict these administrative routes to the admin role. A valid low-privilege account is required, and the reported impact is credential-hash disclosure without account modification or service interruption.
