Local privilege escalation via unquoted STacSV path
Published Jan 26, 2026 · Updated Jan 26, 2026
Unquoted service path in IDT PC Audio 1.0.6499.0 and earlier allows local users to execute code with LocalSystem privileges. The STacSV service registers its auto-start executable as C:\Program Files\IDT\WDM\STacSV64.exe without enclosing the path in quotation marks. Exploitation requires low-privileged write access to an earlier path segment and a service start or reboot, after which planted code runs as LocalSystem.
