Application crash via oversized serial number input
Published Jan 27, 2026 · Updated Jan 27, 2026
Buffer overflow in Easy CD & DVD Cover Creator 4.13 allows local users to crash the application through the serial number field. The field accepts a 6,000-byte pasted string without enforcing the destination buffer size, and processing the value terminates the Windows process. Exploitation requires local GUI access to the unlock dialog; the demonstrated consequence is an application crash, not code execution.
