Local privilege escalation via unquoted service paths
Published Jan 15, 2026 · Updated Jan 15, 2026
Unquoted service paths in Brother BRPrint Auditor 3.0.7 allow local users to execute code with SYSTEM privileges on Windows. The BrAuSvc and BRPA_Agent configurations register executable paths under Program Files without surrounding quotation marks. A low-privileged user who can place an executable in a searched parent path can have it launched as LocalSystem when either automatic service starts.
