LocalSystem code execution via unquoted service path
Published Dec 31, 2025 · Updated Dec 31, 2025
Privilege escalation in SELEA CarPlateServer 4.0.1.6 allows local users to execute code as LocalSystem through an unquoted service path. The Selea CarPlateServer Windows service registers C:/Program Files/Selea/CarPlateServer/CarPlateService.exe without quoting the path. A local user who can place a malicious executable in a searched parent directory gains LocalSystem execution when the service starts or the host reboots.
