CVE-2020-36881Public exploit

Local code execution via overlong directory input

Published Dec 5, 2025 · Updated Dec 8, 2025

Buffer overflow in DiskBoss 7.7.14 allows local users to execute arbitrary code through a crafted input-directory path. The Add Input Directory dialog accepts a 5,296-byte prefix without enforcing a safe length, overwriting control data and jumping to supplied x86 shellcode. Exploitation requires local GUI access, pasting the payload, clicking OK, and disabling DEP; the demonstrated consequence is arbitrary code execution.
