Local privilege escalation via unquoted service paths
Published Dec 5, 2025 · Updated Dec 5, 2025
Unquoted service paths in Flexense DiskBoss 11.7.28 allow local users to execute code with LocalSystem privileges at service start. The registered Windows service ImagePath values omit quotation marks around executable paths under Program Files, causing Windows to search higher-level path segments for an attacker-controlled executable. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access to place a matching executable in a searched location, and execution occurs when an affected service starts or the host reboots.
