CVE-2020-36868Hinoki check available

Local privilege escalation via insecure profile handling

Published Oct 30, 2025 · Updated Oct 30, 2025

Privilege escalation in Nagios XI before 5.7.3 allows local users to execute arbitrary commands or modify privileged files. The scripts/getprofile.sh helper performs profile retrieval and initialization with insufficient validation and insecure file and command handling of attacker-controlled inputs. Low-level local access is required, and deployments that execute the helper with elevated privileges expose root-equivalent command execution or privileged-file modification.
