Unauthenticated administrator takeover via direct-login link generation
Published Oct 16, 2024 · Updated Oct 16, 2024
Authentication bypass in WPIndeed Ultimate Membership Pro 7.3 through 8.6 allows remote attackers to log in as any WordPress user. The ihc_generate_direct_link and ihc_generate_direct_link_by_uid AJAX actions accept an account name or ID and return a credential-free login URL without adequate authorization checks. The CNA record treats the attack as unauthenticated, but the published proof of concept sends subscriber cookies; successful administrator impersonation grants full site control.
