Subscriber-level plugin deactivation via unchecked AJAX action
Published Jun 7, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in Slideshow, Image Slider by 2J 1.3.31 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to deactivate WordPress plugins. The wp_ajax_twoj_slideshow_setup AJAX action invokes twoj_slideshow_setup without verifying a WordPress capability before processing plugin deactivation. Subscriber-level access is sufficient, and deactivating security or operational plugins can disable protections or site features.
