Unauthenticated code execution via attacker-controlled upload types
Published Jun 7, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Arbitrary file upload in Tunafish Adning Advertising 1.5.5 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute code through its AJAX endpoint. The _ning_upload_image function trusts request-controlled file-type and destination values, then moves matching files without capability or nonce checks. A nopriv hook exposes the action to unauthenticated visitors, who can place executable PHP in a web-accessible directory and take over the site.
