User redirection via unescaped Twitter Card values
Published Mar 4, 2023 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Open redirect in Artesãos SEOTools 0.17.0 through 0.17.1 allows remote attackers to redirect users via crafted Twitter Card values. TwitterCards.php makeTag strips HTML tags but inserts the value into a double-quoted meta content attribute without escaping quotes, allowing injected meta-refresh parameters to set an attacker-chosen URL. Exploitation requires an application to pass attacker-controlled metadata and a user to load the generated page; the resulting redirect can send that user to a malicious site.
