Browser script execution via error parameter
Published Jan 18, 2023 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Cross-site scripting in GENI Portal's error-text.php allows remote attackers to run script in a user's browser via the error parameter. The endpoint URL-decodes the error query value and echoes it after htmlentities uses default flags that omit single-quote encoding and explicit UTF-8/HTML5 handling. The script runs in the portal origin and can alter displayed content; a victim must load the crafted response, and published assessments disagree about authentication.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
