CVE-2020-36641Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Server-side request forgery via external entity expansion

Published Jan 5, 2023 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

XXE in aXMLRPC 1.12.0 and earlier allows context-dependent attackers to trigger server-side requests via crafted XML-RPC responses. ResponseParser passes an untrusted response stream to a default DocumentBuilderFactory that permits DOCTYPE declarations and expands external entities. Exploitation requires a crafted response from the selected XML-RPC endpoint or control of that traffic, causing the client host to issue attacker-chosen requests.
