Server-side data access via unrestricted XML entities
Published Jan 5, 2023 · Updated Apr 10, 2025
XXE in Bonita Web Service Connector 1.3.0 and earlier allows attackers to read server-accessible data through crafted SOAP XML responses. SecureWSConnector creates XML transformer and document-builder factories without blocking external DTD, stylesheet, or schema access. Exploitation requires control over XML processed by a configured Bonita process, and accessible resources remain bounded by the Java process permissions.
