Console command execution via unchecked map paths
Published Jan 4, 2023 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Path traversal in the AMX Mod X Console Command Handler allows remote authenticated users to execute commands via crafted map names. The cmdVoteMap function copies each amx_votemap argument into its map-name buffer and passes it to is_map_valid without rejecting parent-directory sequences. Access to the administrative console command on a Windows game server is required; successful exploitation can execute potentially dangerous console commands.
