Cross-site scripting via unescaped n-gram index keys
Published Dec 27, 2022 · Updated Nov 19, 2024
Cross-site scripting in Indeed Engineering util 1.0.33 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject script via variable names. ViewExportedVariablesServlet builds n-gram index JSON from exported variable names, and appendTo inserts resulting keys without escaping nonalphanumeric characters. A low-privileged user who can define a variable name and persuade another user to view the indexed servlet page can execute script in that viewer's browser.
