Unauthorized actions via unrestricted WebSocket origins
Published Dec 21, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
CSRF in the runApp WebSocket handler in Pengu allows remote attackers to initiate unauthorized actions through a victim's browser. The nested originIsAllowed function returns true for every Origin header, causing the server to accept cross-origin WebSocket connections. Exploitation requires user interaction with attacker-controlled web content and is bounded to integrity impact in the victim's Pengu context.
