SYSTEM code execution via unrestricted driver calls
Published Sep 14, 2022 · Updated Jun 4, 2025
Privilege escalation in HoYoVerse Genshin Impact mhyprot2.sys 1.0.0.0 allows local users to execute code with SYSTEM privileges. The driver exposes DeviceIoControl operations without adequately restricting unprivileged callers, providing kernel-context memory access and process-termination primitives. An administrator must first install the driver, but a standard user can invoke the privileged operations once its service is running.
