CVE-2020-36568Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated crash via oversized slice index

Published Dec 27, 2022 · Updated Apr 11, 2025

Uncontrolled resource consumption in Revel before 1.0.0 allows remote attackers to crash web applications with a crafted query. The bindSlice function trusts a bracketed slice index from request parameters, assigns it to maxIndex, and passes maxIndex+1 to reflect.MakeSlice without a bound. The application must expose slice parameter binding; one oversized index can exhaust memory and trigger the host's out-of-memory killer.
