CVE-2020-36565Public exploitNetwork attack vector

File disclosure via mismatched path separator cleaning

Published Dec 7, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Path traversal in LabStack Echo before 4.1.18-0.20201215153152-4422e3b66b9f allows remote attackers to read server files on Windows. Echo.Static, Group.Static, and common.static apply path.Clean before filepath.Join, so Windows backslashes survive cleaning and traverse outside the configured static root. An unauthenticated network request reaches the flaw only when an application exposes Echo static-file handling; disclosure is limited to files readable by the server process.
