Arbitrary file overwrite via unchecked archive paths
Published Dec 27, 2022 · Updated Apr 11, 2025
Path traversal in Yige unzip before 1.0.3-0.20200308084313-2adbaa4891b9 allows attackers to overwrite files via crafted ZIP entries. Unzip.Extract joins each archive entry name directly to the destination path; before the patch, it did not verify that the cleaned result retained the destination-directory prefix. Exploitation requires a consuming application to pass an attacker-controlled archive to the library, after which relative entry names can create or replace files with the application's filesystem permissions.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
