Arbitrary file overwrite via unchecked archive paths
Published Dec 27, 2022 · Updated Apr 11, 2025
Path traversal in artdarek go-unzip before 1.0.0 allows remote attackers to write files outside the extraction directory. Unzip.Extract joined the configured destination with each ZIP entry name and wrote the result without checking whether the cleaned path remained beneath that destination. Exploitation requires a consuming application to extract an attacker-controlled ZIP and permits overwriting files writable by that application's process.
