CVE-2020-36449Public exploit

Memory corruption via unsound ShmWriter Send implementation

Published Aug 8, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Memory-safety flaw in kekbit before 0.3.4 allows attackers to trigger data races and undefined behavior through safe Rust code. The unsafe Send implementation for ShmWriter omits the H: Send bound, permitting a non-Send handler to cross a thread boundary. Reachability requires consuming code to construct ShmWriter with a non-Send handler and move it across threads, where undefined behavior can corrupt memory or crash the process.
