Stored script execution via Maintenance Mode exclusion
Published Jul 2, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stored XSS in CMS Made Simple 2.2.14 allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts through a crafted Maintenance Mode exclusion value. The “Exclude these IP addresses from the Site Down status” parameter stores and renders attacker-controlled HTML or script without neutralizing it. An authenticated user with Maintenance Mode access must save the payload, and another user must load the affected view for execution in that user's browser.
