Authenticated script execution via stored search text
Published Jul 2, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stored XSS in the Admin Search module of CMS Made Simple 2.2.14 allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts in another user's browser. The module stores crafted Search Text input and later renders it as executable HTML or script instead of neutralizing it for the page context. The attacker needs authenticated access to the administrative search interface, and a victim must view the stored content; execution can expose or alter browser-accessible data.
