Stored script execution via notification email setting
Published Jul 2, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stored XSS in the Options module of CMS Made Simple 2.2.14 allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts in other users' browsers. The news-submission notification email setting accepts a crafted payload, stores it, and later places it into a page without neutralizing script or HTML markup. An authenticated account is required to alter the setting, and exploitation also requires another user to view the affected administrative content.
