Stored script execution via unencoded role name
Published Jul 2, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stored XSS in LavaLite CMS 5.8.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary scripts through a crafted role name. The /admin/roles/role component stores the New parameter and renders it in a preview without HTML entity encoding, allowing event-handler markup to execute. An authenticated panel account and a later preview by a victim are required; execution occurs in the victim's browser and can expose session data or perform site-context actions.
