Denial of service via recursive parse_statement
Published May 28, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stack overflow in Cesanta MJS 1.20.1 allows remote attackers to cause denial of service through crafted files during statement parsing. The parse_statement parser recursively processes nested statements with parse_block and parse_statement_list until the call stack is exhausted. A crafted file must reach the MJS parser; the documented consequence is service interruption without reported confidentiality or integrity impact.
