Application crash via column-replication heap over-read
Published Mar 12, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in Leptonica before 1.80.0 allows remote attackers to crash image-processing applications via crafted image data. The pixFillMapHoles function repeatedly copies missing columns between an image and a temporary copy, causing rasteropGeneralLow to read beyond the heap buffer. Processing an image that exercises missing-column replication is required, and the documented consequence is an application crash.
