Physical app-lock bypass via faulty timestamp check
Published Feb 19, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
App-lock bypass in the ownCloud Android App before 2.15 allows physically proximate attackers to access protected app content. The lock-delay logic relies on a faulty timestamp check against the adjustable system clock, so moving the device date into the past defeats the lock. Exploitation requires physical device access, enabled app-lock protection, and the ability to change the system date; protected content can then be read or altered.
