CVE-2020-36244Network attack vector

Remote code execution via unchecked ring-buffer write

Published Feb 10, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Heap-based buffer overflow in GENIVI Diagnostic Log and Trace before 2.18.6 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code. dlt_buffer_write_block copies an oversized block into its ring buffer without ensuring that the block fits, while dlt_buffer_push3 enlarges the buffer only once even when more space is required. Network access to the DLT daemon requires no authentication or user interaction; successful exploitation runs code in the daemon process.
