CVE-2020-36234Network attack vector

Stored XSS via Screens Modal fields

Published Feb 15, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Cross-site scripting in Atlassian Jira Server and Data Center before 8.5.11, 8.6.0 through 8.13.2, or 8.14.0 through 8.14.9 allows remote authenticated users to inject HTML or JavaScript through the Screens Modal view. Custom field values in the modal are stored without adequate output encoding before being rendered to other users. Exploitation requires access to the affected Screens workflow and a victim to open the rendered modal, enabling script execution with that victim's Jira session privileges and affecting confidentiality and integrity without a reported availability impact.
