Reachable assertion in OpenLDAP before 2.4.57 allows remote attackers to crash slapd via a certificate with an invalid X.509 DN. ldap_X509dn2bv calls ber_next_element after counting RDN elements but fails to reject an invalid BER result, reaching an assertion in the decoder. Reachability requires slapd to parse an attacker-supplied X.509 certificate; exploitation terminates the directory service without disclosing or modifying data.
