Remote code execution via unblocked deserialization gadget
Published Jan 6, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Unsafe deserialization in FasterXML jackson-databind 2.x before 2.9.10.8 allows remote attackers to execute code through crafted polymorphic JSON. SubTypeValidator's denylist omits org.apache.tomcat.dbcp.dbcp.datasources.SharedPoolDataSource, so attacker-controlled type metadata can instantiate the gadget. Exploitation requires untrusted JSON, unsafe default typing or equivalent class-name polymorphism, and the Tomcat DBCP gadget on the classpath.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
