Remote code execution via unblocked DBCP gadget
Published Jan 6, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Unsafe deserialization in FasterXML jackson-databind 2.x before 2.9.10.8 allows remote attackers to execute code through crafted JSON. SubTypeValidator omits the PerUserPoolDataSource class from its denylist, allowing polymorphic typing to instantiate the gadget from untrusted type data. Reachability requires attacker-controlled content, default typing, and the Tomcat DBCP gadget classes on the application classpath.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
